Carol Jean Bylund Shepherd passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018.
Carol Jean was the seventh child of eight, born Aug. 6, 1930, in Santaquin Utah. In her early years, Carol Jean grew up in Santaquin and then went to Payson High School.
After graduation, she worked for a doctor’s office in Spanish Fork, Utah. While working there, a friend set her up on a blind date with a charming and handsome young man who turned out to be the love of her life.
She and Charles Shepherd were sealed for time and eternity on Oct. 13, 1950, in the Manti Temple. This month they would have celebrated 68 years of a happy marriage.
Her life revolved around their eight children she and Charles were blessed with.
After working in the medical field for 20 plus years, she retired and went to work in the Salt Lake Temple as an ordinance worker with her husband for the next 14 years.
She is survived by: her husband, Charles Henry Shepherd; seven of her eight children: Joel (Marie) Shepherd, Noel (Denise) Shepherd, Terry (Nancy) Shepherd, Marsha (Roger) Dean, Melanie (Dennis) Harvey, Laureen Shepherd, and Su-Ellen (Oscar) Johnson.
Carol Jean has 33 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren with a great, great, grandchild on the way.
Carol Jean was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Leslie Carol Bishop; her parents Henry Alfonso Bylund and Jennie Matilda Larsen; and by her seven brothers and sisters.
Services will be held Friday, Oct. 5 at the Tooele Utah North Stake Center, 583 N. 270 East, Tooele. The viewing will be held at 11a.m. and the funeral service will follow at 1 p.m.
