Donna D. Young passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the age of 78 following complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Donna was born on Jan. 21, 1940, in Tooele, Utah, to Arthur and Florence Deppe. She graduated from Tooele High School in 1958. She graduated from the University of Utah in 1962 as a registered nurse with her bachelor’s degree. She married Robert S. Young on Dec. 4, 1964, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She dedicated her life to helping friends and neighbors. She was known as the neighborhood nurse and was always available to help anyone needing medical attention or advice in town. She was an active member of the LDS Church for her entire life, serving in multiple callings.
Music was always an integral part of Donna’s life. She played piano and trumpet both from a very early age. She began organ lessons as a teenager. Throughout her life, she blessed many lives with her musical talents. In high school she took great pride in being the first chair of the trumpet section (as she was the only girl). She was always very proud of her experience playing trumpet in the University of Utah marching band. She was an honorary member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (bugler) as she played taps for countless military funerals over the course of 50 years.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert; children, John (Jami) Young of Conroe, Texas, Marianne Reynolds of Tooele, Utah, Arthur (Melissa) Young of Hyde Park, Utah, and Paul Young of West Jordan, Utah; grandchildren, Jade Young, Jeron Young, Jazmin Young, Monica Reynolds, Natalie Reynolds, Caleb Young, Bryson Young, Spencer Young and Elise Young, and sister Jeannine Bingham.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents and brother Larry Deppe.
