Obit John Julian CopleyJohn “Skeeter” Julian Copley passed away unexpectedly Feb. 14, 2015. He was out doing what he loved most — spending the afternoon with his family. Skeeter was born March 26, 1967, in Salt Lake City to John Stephen and Carole Jean Copley. Skeeter couldn’t decide if he was a mommy’s or daddy’s boy, so he became both! He was full of life and always into something. He was always surrounded by animals from dogs to horses. He spent every bit of time he could with his dad playing baseball, basketball, camping, fishing or hunting. They were inseparable growing up and Skeeter wanted to be just like him. He had a special bond with his “Papa,” Mac Magee, who was a real cowboy from Texas, and his grandma, Lynn Magee, an Eskimo from Nome, Alaska. Papa loved taking him out on horses and going to the rodeo. At the age of 6, he was anxious to have a baby brother, Jason Lynn, join their family. Skeeter loved his little brother so much that he always had to have him by his side even up until his passing. Skeeter was gifted to play many sports for Tooele High School including QB and pitcher, and won Punt, Pass & Kick tournaments. He had a vivacious attitude and made everyone laugh. He loved music and especially playing the guitar. Skeeter had a special relationship with his grandma. They loved shopping together, eating and spending time and he missed her dearly when she passed four years ago in February. Skeeter will be missed greatly by his nieces (Taylor Ann, Ellie Lynn) and nephews (Mitchell Julian, Conner Bryant, Aiden John) — he was their greatest cheerleader. He loved attending plays, their sport events, etc. Skeeter loved his Sunday dinner with them. He always had to have a hug when he arrived and when he left and often brought some type of treat the kids were anxious to receive. We were all blessed to have known such a wonderful son, grandson, brother and uncle. Skeeter faced trials none of us could comprehend and taught us all to be brave, smile, how to serve, compassion, patience, perspective and love. We miss him more than words can describe, but we know there was a great reunion in heaven when he returned home. Skeeter is survived by his brother Jason (Natalie) Copley, aunt Helen Christiansen, and five nieces and nephews. Skeeter is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at the Tooele City Cemetery, 361 S. 100 East, Tooele, Utah 84074. A viewing was held on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), South Jordan, Utah 84095. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com.
