Lanila S. Hein was born Feb. 3, 1933, to Ira and Laura Shepherd in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, and raised in Spanish Fork, Utah. Her earthly journey came to an end on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, after two very valiant battles with cancer. She can now rest in peace.

Lanila married Carl G. Hein on Oct. 7, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a mother of three children: Sherrie, Kenneth and Trois; a grandmother of seven grandchildren; and a great-grandmother of 12 great-grandchildren. She was a valiant member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she held many church callings. She enjoyed working at various part time jobs, and also volunteered at the Dugway Hospital.

Mom and Dad raised their family in Dugway and Tooele. Mom enjoyed making crafts, painting, peanut clusters, shrimp, hobo stew, rain on the roof, corn, and going for rides. But most of all, she enjoyed when her family came to visit. Mom and Dad made and renewed many friendships as they have spent the past 22 years with friends and family being snowbirds in Southern Utah and Arizona. These were some of the happiest times of her life. She welcomed and loved visitors whether they were just passing through or staying for a weekend.

Lanila is preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister. She is survived by her loving husband Carl, her three children, and her brother, Oren.

Services will be held at the Tooele 15th Ward building, 1030 S. 900 West in Tooele. A viewing will be held Friday, March 2 from 10-11 a.m. with a small service to follow from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. A luncheon will follow the services. Interment will be at Camp Williams at a later date.
